Wreaths Across America Day, Saturday, December 12, 2015, began with the inspiration of one man, Morrill Worcester in Maine. In 1992, Mr. Worcester donated and laid 5,000 Christmas wreaths at the Arlington National Cemetery. In 2014, Wreaths Across America and its national network of volunteers laid more than 700,000 memorial wreaths at 1,000 locations in every state, Puerto Rico, and 24 overseas cemeteries including the Philippines, Tunisia, France, and Belgium.

The Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, one of the nation-wide Wreaths Across America Day locations, will honor veterans with a ceremony beginning at 10:50 a.m. with the wreath laying following.

Wreaths across America reaches out to thousands of children each year with the message of Remember, Honor and Teach. The importance of honoring each fallen serviceman/woman as an individual is stressed. The wreath laying is now held each year on the second Saturday of December and was unanimously voted by the US Congress as “Wreaths Across America™ Day”. Wreaths Across America hopes that one day every veteran’s resting place will be adorned with a wreath for the holiday season.

The Hughes Family Tribute Center will participate in the laying of wreaths on Wreaths Across America Day. Arrangements may be coordinated with the Center for members of the public wanting to designate a wreath for a specific gravesite at the DFW National Cemetery. All funds from the purchase of wreaths go to Wreaths Across America. Now through Monday, November 30, wreath orders may be placed online at http://waa.convio.net/goto/HughesFTC, or on location at:
