Award-winning, Classic Café chef Charles Youts will prepare hors d’oeuvres for the Ruby Slipper Soiree.

Hosted by the Mid-Cities Kappa Alpha Theta Alumnae Chapter, the third annual Ruby Slipper Soirée will once again raise funds for CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of Tarrant County, an organization dedicated to helping abused and neglected children. The shoe fashion show event will feature the chic, cosmopolitan shoe styles of style partner Elaine Turner and will be held on October 23, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Feragne Villa, located in Hurst at 755 Mid Cities Boulevard.

Ruby Slipper Soiree guests are encouraged to wear their own “ruby slippers” (red shoes) to the event and will enjoy a selection of delicious hors d’oeuvres from Classic Café’s award-winning Chef Charles Youts and fine wines from Hahn Winery and Bear Creek Spirits & Wine. The event highlight is a spectacular shoe fashion show featuring the latest fall footwear and handbag designs from Elaine Turner and jewelry from Premier Designs, the event jewelry provider, modeled by Kappa Alpha Theta collegians from Texas Christian University. Elaine Turner, who will open a new store in Southlake Town Center in October, offers a collection of luxury handbags, shoes and accessories inspired by the designer’s love of exotic travels and colorful spaces.

Also during the event, guests will also have an opportunity to win prizes and sample two, new, ready-to-pour products from Candy’s Signature Cocktails. For a $25 donation, 50 participants can take part in the first-of-its-kind “Spirits and Sparkle Pull,” which will reward them with a bottle of either Candy’s Signature Lemon Drop or Honey Bee, as well as a select piece of Premier Designs jewelry.

“This year’s event will be an unforgettable evening for women to unite for a great cause,” said Event Chair Lisa Cumbie Hernandez. “Guests are encouraged to wear their own ‘ruby slippers’ for a chance to win a special prize, but also to remind them that ‘there’s no place like home’, as all funds raised will help CASA secure safe homes for many needy children in our area.”

This year, Kappa Alpha Theta celebrates its 25th year of partnership with CASA nationally. CASA is an organization that trains volunteers to speak up for abused and neglected children by making recommendations to family court judges for safe, permanent homes where children can thrive. Last year, in Tarrant County alone, CASA served over 800 children. Currently nearly 350 area children are on a waiting list for a CASA advocate.

“The Ruby Slipper Soirée is a favored event because it is such a fun way to raise awareness and funds for CASA,” said Rebecca Farrow, Executive Director of CASA of Tarrant County. “We are so pleased to be celebrating the 25th anniversary of our national partnership with the women of Kappa Alpha Theta.”

To date, Mid-Cities Kappa Alpha Theta has raised $12,500 for CASA of Tarrant County. Sponsorship opportunities are available and individual tickets ($50) are now on sale.
