  is a skilled pilot who has logged over 19\,600 hours of flight time. Drea
 ming of being an astronaut\, she joined the Women in Space program which w
 as known as Mercury 13. The participants went through rigorous training bu
 t unfortunately\, the program was cancelled before any went into space.  \
 nAfter six decades of waiting\, Wally realized her dream on July 20\, 2021
  by being a passenger with Jeff Bezos on Blue Origin’s New Shepard spacecr
 aft. At that time\, she was 82 years old and set a record for being the ol
 dest person to go into space. She received her official astronaut wings fr
 om the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) in 2022. She is now the oldes
 t woman to go into space. \nWally has written 2 books about her experience
 s\, Higher\, Faster\, Longer: My Life in Aviation and My Quest for Spacefl
 ight. She is happy to sign any copies of her books brought to the meeting.
