Ever wonder what it takes to be a fire fighter and/or paramedic? Well, the CFA (Citizen's Fire Academy) class allows the general public to do just that. This 7 week class goes behind the scenes and lets you experience things hands on as you learn about things like hazmat, how to use the "jaws of life" to take apart a vehicle, use the fire hoses, put on the bunker gear, learn about search and rescue, talk with the CareFlight crew when they land during one class and so much more. Each class will include some classroom instruction and then you will go outside for the hands on portion. Do as much or as little as you are comfortable with but remember, you may never have a chance to be this up close and personal to the fire department personnel and the equipment they use.
Classes begin in Colleyville:
March 15th and are held every Thursday from 6:30 - 9:30 PM through April 26th. Most classes will be held at the Central Fire Station on highway 26 in Colleyville but you will get to go to the other stations and tour them. One class will be held at station 3 on McDonwell School Rd. when CareFlight comes in.
