Councilwoman Carol Wollin Files for Re-Election to Colleyville City Council Place 1

Carol Wollin filed for re-election to Place 1 on the Colleyville City Council on Wednesday, Jan. 30. Wollin was initially elected to the City Council in May 2007 and was re-elected in May 2010.

“I have worked hard every day to make this city stronger by working effectively with fellow council members and staff, and most importantly, the people that I represent,” said Wollin. “I thank you for the trust you have placed in me to serve you. I enjoy dealing with the intricate details of city governance, but what I value the most are the opportunities to connect with the people I serve.”

When asked why she is running again, she said, “Colleyville has made great strides in the past few years and we are well positioned for the future, but there is still more work to be accomplished to keep our city moving forward. As our community grows and develops, I want to be your voice on the council so that we can preserve its unique charm and protect the investment we all have made in living here.”

Wollin’s plans incorporate the continuation of a citizen-driven budget model where citizens’ priorities and expectations remain at the forefront of all planning. Her focus will include public safety, economic development, improved infrastructure and roads, financial stability, and a sustainable and responsible budget that maximizes taxpayers’ money. She also says that quality leisure activities like parks, trails, library services, and youth and adult programs are of importance to her.

Wollin’s extensive service to Colleyville has given her a unique opportunity to serve beside fellow residents and gain a true understanding of the community.  She is and has also been involved in numerous community activities for more than two decades, many of them in leadership positions. These include:

  • GCISD Board of Trustees (elected to two terms) and service as its President
  • President and Vice President Colleyville Garden Club

For the past two years, Wollin has earned the Certificate of Recognition from the Texas Municipal League Institute. This is awarded to city council members who complete educational opportunities in seeking to better serve their cities.

During the past six years, Wollin was instrumental in decisions that improved the quality of life in Colleyville. She cites the hiring of the current city manager, increased vibrancy in economic development that has redeveloped sites and attracted new businesses, retail, and restaurants, instituting a solicitation ordinance to protect Colleyville citizens, improving intersections and roads, expanding the public library, and cooperative ventures with neighboring cities to provide increased efficiency and services to residents while reducing costs.

Wollin is proud that Colleyville has kept the same tax rate for many years, has the lowest crime rate in the county, and has earned and maintained its AAA municipal bond rating, the highest a city can receive for sound financial practices

Wollin is a former assistant professor of nursing and spends her time giving back to her city as a community volunteer. She has earned a master of science in nursing from the University of Minnesota and a bachelor of science in nursing from St. Olaf College.
